Note: Antioxidants protect your body from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Neuro-inflammation is a known risk factor for cognitive deficit and memory loss and its incidence increases with aging.

Turmeric Root contains Curcumin which is a very strong antioxidant with powerful anti-inflammatory effects; that’s why we included it in our Healthy Herbs and Roots formula. Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals. Curcumin also has antidepressant-like effects, improving mood, possibly through the up-regulation of BDNF and reduction of inflammatory factors in the brain. Decreased levels of BDNF has been also linked to common brain disorders and some studies show that Curcumin may increase brain levels of BDNF. And it may also help memory. Numerous study reported Curcumin improving cardiovascular function. Oxidation and inflammation are linked to aging which is responsible for may disorders; Curcumin can help slow down this aging process. [1,2,3,4,5,6,7]

Ashwagandha Root (Withania somnifera) is well-known for its adaptogen (stress relieving) effects. In addition, this plant is highly used for its immunomodulator, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral, cardio support, neural and physical health enhancer, neurodefensive, memory boosting properties including the reduction of blood sugar/cholesterol levels with the ability to enhance endothelial (cardiovascular) function along with brain and memory function, as well as improve mood. It plays an important factor in our Healthy Herbs and Roots formula. [8,9,10,11,12]

Cinnamon Bark Powder (Cinnomomum wilsonii) is yet another very powerful antioxidant with anit-inflammatory and anti-antibacterial activities in our Healthy Herbs and Roots formula. It has the ability to lower blood glucose (sugar), lower “bad” LDL cholesterol and increase “good” HDL cholesterol levels. Cinnamon and components of cinnamon have been shown to have beneficial effects on essentially all of the factors associated with metabolic syndrome, including insulin sensitivity, glucose, lipids, antioxidants, inflammation, blood pressure, and body weight. Insulin resistance leads to memory impairment and cinnamon improves this. Cinnamon also shows promising anti-tumoral properties. [13,14,15,16,17]

Brahmi Leaves (Bacopa monnieri) is used as a memory enhancer to remedy conditions like memory loss, anxiety, poor cognition and loss of concentration. Hence, it is considered to sharpen the mind and the intellect. It is also known to be effective towards neurological disorders. It promotes free radical scavenger mechanisms and protects cells in prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, and striatum against cytotoxicity and DNA damage. As a result, we made sure to include this ingredient in our Healthy Herbs and Roots blend. [18,19]

Holy Basil Leaf also called Tulsi is an “adaptogen” found to protect organs and tissues against chemical stress from industrial pollutants and heavy metals, and physical stress from prolonged physical exertion, ischemia, physical restraint and exposure to cold and excessive noise. And so, this aspect was incorporated into our Health Herbs and Roots composition. It has a calming effect that leads to clarity of thought. Holy Basil is considered by some as a sacred herb offering solutions to many modern day health problems. [20,21]

It also contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulating, antibacterial, and adaptogenic properties. Study showed it to reduce cholesterol and body fat, blood sugar and insulin levels. Triphala is used to remedy imbalances in the gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular system. Triphala contains a rich source of vitamin C and flavonoids making it a good antioxidant. It has also shown to significantly reduce inflammatory markers as well as bone and cartilage degradation in rats. It provides many therapeutic benefits, therefore this component is part of our Healthy Herbs and Roots formula. [22,23]

Garlic Bulb (Allium sativum) has been shown to contain antioxidant phytochemicals that prevent oxidative damage counteracting oxidative stress and reducing blood pressure in people with high blood pressure. The benefits of garlic include free-radical scavenging, anti-inflammatory, lowering “bad” LDL cholesterol, anti-gastric ulcer, antimicrobial, anti-tumoral, and antioxidant properties. It helps protect the body against many types of toxic agents. [24,25]

Trikatu Powder is a mixture in Healthy Herbs and Roots consisting of black pepper fruit powder, long pepper fruit powder, and ginger root powder. Its used to remedy a variety of disorders hence known as a multi-purpose remedy, and has bioavailability enhancing action when combined with other natural therapeutic ingredients. It is supported by research to reduce triglycerides and LDL “bad” cholesterol and increase HDL “good” cholesterol, as an immune-modulatory for combating flu like conditions, inflammation especially joint-related inflammation, and improve sinus conditions. [26,27,28,29,30,31]

It is mainly composed of humic substances, one of them being “fulvic acid” which is known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and memory enhancer properties. [41]

Cordyceps (mycelium) is a long skinny brownish-black ‘golf club shaped’ mushroom fungus that stems out from the head of a caterpillar! -The base of the mushroom first originates from an insect larval host. As it matures, it develops a yellowish-brown outer covering over the insect known as mycelium. Its benefits include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory (lung inflammation), improved memory, anti-aging, anti-tumoral, keeping blood sugar levels within healthy range, cardiovascular support, decrease “bad” LDL cholesterol, immunomodulatory, and more. [42,43,44]

Lavender Powder (whole plant) (Lavendula angustifolia) is known for its calming effects, reducing anxiety, boosting sleep, improve mood, and is good for aiding a large verity of skin conditions. [45]
